GENERAL INFORMATION

The Charleston Civic Center is the entertainment and convention centerpiece of Charleston, hosting the majority of the state’s premier entertainment, sporting and corporate events. As one of the most flexible facilities in the

Mid-Atlantic region, the Charleston Civic Center is comprised of four versatile venues–The Civic Center Coliseum, The Municipal Auditorium, The Civic Center Little Theater and The Charleston Convention Center.

 Whether you need a meeting place, a banquet facility, a sports arena, a concert hall, or an exhibition space, the Charleston Civic Center is both uniquely suited and ideally situated to make the event a success.


Civic Center Coliseum
 

No facility in the region puts on a show like the Coliseum.  The world's top recording artists - country, pop, rock, jazz and Christian - receive their biggest encores in Charleston.  From the outstanding sight lines to dynamic sound reproduction for any size audience, the Coliseum is a promoter favorite.  Live national and worldwide telecasts such as ESPN and WCW are a common occurrence and success in the Coliseum.

Able to accommodate a variety of stage configurations, the Coliseum boasts one of the most experienced support teams of any venue its size.  That experience shines when problems must be solved and deadlines must be met. 

On site paid parking is available for up to 2,000 vehicles. Additional adjacent paid parking to accommodate more than 4,000 vehicles is available within a three-block area.

The Charleston Civic Center provides a variety of support services for your event, beyond the normal lighting and temperature controls, and facility event coordination assistance. These support services include advertising and publicity, box office and ticketing, operational equipment, production labor or equipment, event staffing and concession booths. Convention Halls

Whether you demand a fully-appointed space of grand proportions for a trade show or a flexible space to premier your new product line, the Charleston Civic Center offers a variety of convention hall facilities certain to accommodate any requirement and expectation.

For starters, unequalled accessibility and convenience of location saves everyone–from the planning team to the exhibitors and guests–valuable time. Next, our exhibition and convention staff offer years of experience in helping you plan every detail to insure success. Finally, we are at your service during your event to handle last-minute details, special requests or an unexpected problem.

The Grand Convention Hall offers over 50,000 square feet of Class A exhibition space, enough to accommodate up to 256 standard booths. If desired, the hall can be easily divided into four individual areas of unobstructed space providing flexibility to accommodate any size event.  View Chart


Municipal Auditorium & Little Theater

The Charleston Civic Center Little Theater is undergoing renovations thanks to the support of a match grant from the West Virginia Division of Culture and History, and the National Endowment for the Arts, with approval from the West Virginia Commission on the Arts

Within the Charleston Civic Center Complex are two venues ideally situated to the performer, the presenter and the audience.  The Civic Center Little Theater and the Municipal Auditorium prove the perfect stage for a wide range of entertainment, cultural and business events, from annual meetings and awards programs to ballet performances and opera.

Municipal Auditorium...It's Showtime!

The Municipal Auditorium offers the perfect stage for concerts, shows, reviews, and event staging.  A cultural landmark in classic, Art Deco styling, the 3,400-seat venue offers a 65-foot stage that has hosted the elite of music, dance and theatre from around the globe.

The stage and seating format is also ideal for presentation functions such as lectures, workshops, and/or corporate gatherings.  The Auditorium is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Civic Center Little Theater...Encore!

The Civic Center Little Theater provides a relaxed and personal showcase for  audiences up to 750 persons.  The Little Theater is the ideal choice for meetings where a formal setting is desired for a general conference session or to highlight visual information on-screen.  It is the ideal locale to showcase small to midsize musical or theatrical ensembles.  Convenient access to all facility amenities, as well as nearby restaurants and downtown shopping, make the venue a superb entertainment draw.  View Seating Chart

At the Charleston Civic Center, we stand ready to serve your banquet, reception, party or meeting needs with a desire to exceed your expectations.  Since 1989, the Civic Center has hosted thousands of successful events, establishing our facility as one of the state's premier destinations for meetings and catered functions. 

Preparation is at the heart of every successful hospitality event and we offer expert assistance in planning all details of your special occasion.  We are ready with suggestions and ideas if needed, or willing to take your vision of an event and make it a reality.  Our facilities are large enough to serve thousands and delicate enough for an intimate luncheon for ten.  Whether you are a program manager, event coordinator, or social planner we are committed to serving your guests with West Virginia hospitality and Charleston flair.

Flexible Facilities
 

The Charleston Civic Center offers a variety of settings for your function. The Executive Board Room and eight individual, or joined, Executive Suites on the facility’s second level offer a unique and personal atmosphere for smaller, formal requirements.

Three West Virginia Conference Rooms and five Parlor rooms offer expanded space and flexibility for larger functions. The Civic Center’s largest room–The Grand Hall–has the ability to seat several thousand, or divide to intimately accommodate several hundred. In addition, the Civic Center Lounge also offers quaint possibilities for entertaining, and for those with a much larger vision, the Coliseum offers a variety of large-scale possibilities.

Fine dining to finger food, quaint meeting to large banquet, our menus can reflect the atmosphere desired for your function. Our culinary staff prepares everything to order to make certain you receive exceptional taste and quality.
